After dumping our bags at the hotel, we make our way through the streets of elevated train tracks (Victorian government take note) to the Willis tower, previously known as the Sears tower. More factoids - Willis tower is 108 stories and 442 m tall. When it was completed in 1974, it was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the NY World Trade Center towers, and it continued to be so for nearly 25 years. But of course all these other building popped up in KL and China so now, the tower is 'only' the tallest building in the United States. It is the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world, as well as the fifth tallest building in the world to the roof. The Willis towers have awesome views and recently they also installed some "sky decks". It's not a ride like "The Edge" at the Euraka Towers in Melbourne but it's the same concept and you walk into a glass cube that petrudes outside the building.
After the Willis tower, we go to the famous deep dish pizza chain, Giordano's, and once again our eyes were too big for our stomachs. In our defence, they did say that one small pizza would feed 1-2 people.
While at dinner, we decide that while in Chicago, it's only right to visit a blues bar and so we go to the "House of Blues". We grab a few drinks and listen to a house musician strum the guitar before Joanna Connor Band took to the stage. They were awesome but a tired trio listen for 30 mins before deciding that it's time to hit the hay and prepare for day two.
